The divertimento as a musical genre dates back to the nineteenth century. DIVERTIMENTI were composed for various social occasions and were intended to be light, uncomplicated and cheerful. Such pieces were often scored for small string ensemble. Over the years this effortless, elegant form has appeared in many different musical styles and, to a large extent, set the standard for the virtuosic concert chamber music we know today.

The blu-ray format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and can hold up to 25 GB on a Single-Layer blu-ray disc and 50 GB on a Dual-Layer blu-ray disc.
This means you can store over 9 hours of HD video on a 50 GB blu-ray disc and about 23 hours of Standard Definition (SD) video on a 50 GB blu-ray disc.This capacity on blu-ray offers picture quality offers five times that of a DVD and uncompressed sound of upto 7.1 channels.

The divertimento dates to the 18th, not the 19th Century, as stated in the notes on the recording. My favorites are Mozart's 3 divertimenti K. 136-8, composed in 1772 for string quartet. Mozart was sixteen years of age. Speaking of the Trondheim Solistene - I would encourage... Read More
