Operetta in three acts by Victor Leon and Leo Stein
"Viennese Blood" is Johann Strauß’ last operetta and it is regarded as one of Strauß’ most popular works. The special thing about this work is its curious genesis: the operetta is a compilation of older Strauß’ melodies completed by a new libretto. Johann Strauß himself gave his consent and started compiling the material but unfortunately could not complete his work. Therefore, "Viennese Blood" was musically completed by the musical director of the "Theater an der Wien", Adolf Müller, in accordance with Strauß’ wishes. The libretto, based on well-tried patterns of amorous entanglement and, of course, provided with a Happy End, was contributed by Viktor Leon and Leo Stein.
